nearly 500 years of slavery. The Africans brought with them their own cultures and rituals, but were not allowed to practice them. The
movements were set to music and disguised to look like a dance or acrobatic game.
http://www.capoeirairmandade.com Classes begin with a warm up, and then proceed to focus on specific training techniques and combinations. These exercises are intended to prepare the students for the roda (the circle which surrounds the game) in which two people spontaneously interlock movements fueled by the singing, clapping and instrumentation of the other students. Its in the roda where you are free to explore your skills, your fears are faced. Stretching and flexibility exercises are done after class. Classes offered:
Monday: 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM – All Levels (Focusing on Conditioning and Drills) Beginners always Welcome! Tuesday: 7:30 – 9:30 PM – Beginner Class (Focusing on Capoeira Basics and Conditioning) All levels Welcome! Wednesday: 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM – Advanced Class (Focusing on Advanced Skills) Green/ Yellow Belts and Above or by invitation. Saturday: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM – Kids Class Saturday: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM – All Levels (Focusing on Conditioning and Drills) Beginners always Welcome!
