Mestre(s): Mestre Jelon Vieira
Mestre Jelon Vieira is highly regarded as being the pioneer of Capoeira in the United States, first introducing the art form in 1975. He began his training as a young boy with the legendary Angola master, Mestre Bobo. Later on in his youth, he was captivated by the grace and power of Regional and began his training with none other than Mestre Bimba. After Bimba's passing, Mestre Jelon continued his training with one of Mestre Bimba's top students, the late Eziquiel. It was Mestre Eziquiel who finalized Mestre Jelon's formation into the rank of Mestre in 1988. Since then Mestre Jelon has worked non stop to spread the name of Capoeira while maintaining the rituals and traditions of the art's origins.
