Welcome to AFRO-BRAZIL Capoeira Group Founded in the year 2000 by Professor Christophe Geara Disciple (student) of Mestre Brasilia “Associacao de Capoeira Sao Bento Grande” in Sao Paulo Brazil.

Christophe began training Capoeira in 1977 in Sao Paulo Brazil with the highly respected Mestre Brasilia, founder of the Association of Capoeira Sao Bento Grande.
One year later he received his first belt (green). In 1982, after many hours of intensive training, Christophe graduated and received his qualifying belt (green, yellow and blue). Christophe then moved to Paris where he rapidly became associated with all the Capoeira schools there. He continued his training; began teaching and performing in various clubs and restaurants.
Christophe arrived in Melbourne in 1989; 2 years later he opened his own Capoeira School - 'Afro-Brazil'. With his students improving rapidly, Christophe started group performances with them in various venues. Today, Christophe has a growing list of students; he also runs workshops and seminars at schools and festivals. Christophe has also extensively toured Australia and overseas with his six-piece percussion band - 'Bad Boys Batucada', releasing 5 albums worldwide.

Due to the increasing popularity of Capoeira worldwide and in Australia, the group is rapidly growing with new members starting all the time. Apart from the regular workshops at Unitd Styles Studio, AFRO-BRAZIL also performs in various festivals, Corporate parties, clubs, anywhere..... AFRO-BRAZIL has also a program that is popular with Primary Schools, Secondary Colleges, Universities etc.. The program concists of introducing Students the art of Capoeira, Brazilian percussion and basic dance steps in a show / workshop style.
