International Shipping for Berimbaus
What new Post Office rates and policies mean for shipping berimbaus outside the US
Priority Mail International FAQs - Length Limitation As of May 14th 2007 the United States Post Office made a rate and shipping policy overhaul. There are now new shipping rates for domestic (inside the USA) and international (from the USA to other countries) parcels. There have also been a number of changes to the international shipping standards and limitations. For our customers the most important change is the maximum length limitation. The new maximum length for any international package is 42". A full sized berimbau of course is between 58 and 62 inches. The Post Office no longer offers any shipping options for packages that are over 42" in length, with a few exceptions. The following list of countries have a maximum package length of 60" which means if you live in one of the countries that appears below, we can still ship a berimbau to you via Priority Mail International. Countries that accept 60-inch packages: Austria Azerbaijan Belgium Canada Denmark Finland France Germany Gibraltar Great Britain & Northern Ireland Greece Hong Kong Ireland Italy Japan Liechtenstein Luxembourg Macao Malta Republic of the Marshall Islands Federated States of Micronesia Netherlands New Zealand Norway Poland Portugal San Marino Slovak Republic (Slovakia) Spain Sweden Switzerland United Kingdom Vatican City If your country does not appear on this list and you would like to order a berimbau, we can still ship to you using UPS Express International. UPS Express international is a very fast and reliable carrier, however it costs about $110.00 USD to ship just the verga portion of the berimbau. The rest of the berimbau (cabaca, caixixi etc) will still be shipped via Priority Mail International, bringing the total shipping cost to about $140.00 USD. Because of package length limitations, this is the only method of shipping a berimbau to countries that are not on the 60-inch list above. We would love to be able to offer a more economical shipping solution, however we cannot control the policies of the major shipping carriers. We will continue to look for alternate methods of shipping for berimbaus to make them more affordable to our valued customers.
