Mestre Bimba
Born Manoel dos Reis Machado in Salvador, Bahia, Mestre Bimba is credited
with initiating the legalization of Capoeira with the opening of the first
official school of Capoeira in 1932. The school attracted upper class students
who later traveled with him across Brazil demonstrating his style of Capoeira
that later became known as Capoeira Regional.
Bimba's style introduced new
blows, sweeps, and a series of eight sequences aimed at helping his students
become better fighters. |
